RC drilling in Saudi Arabia

Takween provides reverse circulation (RC) drilling for mineral exploration across Saudi Arabia. RC drilling delivers representative rock-chip samples quickly and at a lower cost per metre than diamond coring, which makes it the workhorse for first-pass target testing, step-out and infill drilling. Our company-owned rigs drill to depths of up to 500 m.

How RC drilling works

RC drilling uses dual-walled rods. Compressed air drives the hammer at the bottom of the hole and carries the rock chips up the inner tube to the surface, where they are collected and split for each drilled interval. Because the sample travels inside the rods, contamination from the walls of the hole is kept to a minimum.

Air core and grade control drilling

Alongside RC, Takween offers air core drilling and grade control drilling. Air core suits softer, weathered ground and shallow geochemical drilling, where speed and low cost matter most. Grade control drilling uses closely spaced holes to define ore boundaries ahead of mining.

Sample quality you can trust

RC results are only as good as the samples. Our crews manage sample collection and splitting at the rig, and our sample management and QA/QC process keeps every bag traceable from the drill site to the laboratory. Our geologists log chips at site, so decisions can be made while the rig is still on the pad.
